This is the tale of Captain Jack Sparrow. I can sum up the basic plot of this game in 4 lines if I so may. Needless to say, my expectations weren't that high when I popped the game into my 360, though I knew I'd probably have fun in the end. I in turn have also given in, and resigned myself to the fact that Lego Pirates of the Caribbean could very well be the same thing I saw come out of any number of packages over the last couple years. I'm sure cats figure out eventually that it's the same uncatchable object they're chasing, but they give in. Yet time and again, I'd be playing with the same thing. Time and again I get excited to see really neat franchises Lego-fied.

Cats always fall for and chase a laser pointer no matter how many times you do the exact same thing. Heck, you can even play as a guard dog and dig at certain areas (PETA would be proud).With the internet continuing to provide us with a plethora of options for everything nowadays, and our collective attention spans dwindling in a whole, sometimes there's a shining beam of light there to capture our short attention spans with the same thing over and over again in a different tightly bundled package. Jack Sparrow, in particular, can bring out a compass and find items around levels to either help reach the end of the level or finding secrets.

I'm pretty sure that didn't come into another Lego game up until The Lego Movie Video Game. All you do is hold Y and a little wheel of characters will be shown to select. Another aspect that was implemented was the newer character wheel. I haven't seen that in a Lego game since Lego Batman 2 (which came out after this game). For instance, characters that can shoot or throw can now aim directly towards a target. Of course, there's characters that can attack with swords and shoot with guns, but I feel as though the developers, Tt Games, were kind of testing different kinds of gameplay elements to see if they work in a Lego game. I couldn't find any good images, so here's some bricksĪs usual with these Lego games, there are some fun and imaginative aspects to dive into such as building structures and certain characters having abilities they can use to help get through levels.

When it comes to how it covers four of the five movies, this game does it's justice just as good as any other Lego game has done with its source material. One of the beauties of Lego games back then were how they can tell stories without even one word being spoken and Lego Pirates of The Caribbean does that excellently. Now while you may think that's a sign of being something that lets the game down, it actually doesn't. Since this game came out before Lego Batman 2 (one of my favorite DC games honestly), there's no actual speaking when it comes to characters and instead have the old school grunting and facial gestures. Gibbs, Davy Jones, Captain Barbosa, and even Black Beard are present in the game and still play out their roles similar to the films. Characters like Jack Sparrow, Will, Elizabeth, Mr. Much like Lego Star Wars, this game brings in the comical relief and humor while still maintaining to the Pirates of The Caribbean source material and, to be quite honest, it does it very well. You have Curse of The Black Pearl, Dead Man's Chest, At Worlds End, and finally At Stranger Tides. Lego Pirates of The Caribbean covers what would have been all four films in the series if the newest entry Dead Men Tell No Tales wasn't released.
